cafe hopping

As most twenty something year old girls, one of my fave things to do in my spare time, is to find new cafes around my local area, order an oat latte read my book, journal or catch up my friends.

After recently moving to Brighton, which has an extensive coffee shop list attached to it, I have of course tested the waters and decided to complete a short list of the cafes I've loved so far.

Hopefully this list will be a helpful guide for when you are next visiting the area or if you’re local and need a new spot to try.

1. Loam

111 Gloucester Road, Brighton and Hove BN1 4AF

If you’re looking for a quieter spot away from the busy North Laines, this pink exterior cafe will do the trick. It’s charming Parisian style window curtain, and the cosy seating makes for the best place to relax as you sip on your coffee. Loam has an array of freshly baked goods (still dying to try their famous cinnamon buns) and artisan coffee.

2. Flat out

59 Church Road, Hove BN3 2BD

One of my favourite spots to sit and read my book or do a bit of work from is Flat Out. This place is a really nice chill environment to be in, great music choice, lovely staff and delish coffee. What more could you want??

3. The Botanist Coffee Co

67C Church Road, Hove BN3 2BD

Tucked off of Church street is The Botanist, a cosy coffee shop providing delicious coffee. Using local coffee beans from Horsham, and seasonal ingredients, The Botanist is sustainably driven to provide the best for their customers whilst supporting local businesses too. It’s a great one to try on a cosy Sunday morning.

4. Bread and Milk

82 Trafalgar Street, Brighton BN1 4EB

Not too far from Brighton train station, you’ll find Bread and Milk. The perfect spot to sit and people watch. I've been here a couple times now, always can rely on this place for a lunch time pick me up or great coffee, the staff are always really friendly in here too.

5. Bee may Bakery

16 Gloucester Road, Brighton, BN1 4AD

The last cafe on my list is Bee May Bakery. Just a few moments away from Loam, this spot is not one to miss. I came here with my mum when she came to visit me a few weeks ago and we shared a couple of their croissants and I cannot stop thinking about them!

Served by super friendly and kind staff, this coffee shop provides it ALL, it feels like your sat in someones kitchen with the homely interiors and your left dreaming about their baked goods. This bakery has now got me hooked onto their stuffed croissants, if you go you have to try the apple crumble one if they have it! - thank me later!

I am still yet to become a regular at any of these places, I would love to one day become that person where the barista knows my order as soon as I walk through the door, but until then I’ll dip my toes into different places.

Hopefully by reading this, you’ve found a few new places to add to your list, visiting any of these will make any of your weekend plans feel extra cosy.

Remember to always support your independent coffee shops <3
